This storm came up out of nowhere or maybe I haven't been on top of my weather research lately since I know we are still "trapped" in the house. This morning I learned Cat. 2 Typhoon Morakot is on it's way to Okinawa. The first of it's bands has just started to touch us. I don't believe it will be a direct hit. It's supposedly moving just south of us. We will be getting lots of wind and rain.
So this morning I spent tying everything down, cleaning up the yard, getting last minute items at the store (which I dreaded because everyone else was doing the same thing). Thank goodness I had just done my grocery shopping yesterday and didn't have to spend hours in the store. It's still hot as ever (99 degrees today) and having to do all that without Charlie's help was a bummer, but I got it all done.
So, as of now, it looks like we will be hunkering down for this one starting Thurs. night. I rented some movies and the kids are ready for our typhoon party (as we call it). It'll be great family time. We don't have to worry too much about loosing power or our house being damaged. The Okinawan houses are built to withstand the toughest storms. We only lost power for 15 mins. during a Cat. 5 a couple of years ago. So this storm will be easy.
